Exodus
written by Joshua Furtado
Life is a journey. The Bible clearly states that we are just pilgrims on this earth and that this earth is not our home.
When we look at Israel we see that God took them to Egypt for a period of time but that was not the land God had promised them. However, when they settled in Egypt, they became accustomed to the ways of the land even though they faced the hardship of slavery for 400 years. So when the time came for Israel to move out into the land that was promised by God to their forefathers, they were not happy with the changes that they needed to make. The Israelites started to get angry with Moses and Aaron and they started to murmur. Eventually, it got so bad that the entire generation that came out of Egypt never entered the promise land.
The Bible clearly states in many places that we are not of this world though we are in it. I believe that we need to be people that are foresighted, who believe in the promises of God and look towards heaven as our home. You see, Israel had the promise but Egypt became home!
What satisfies us the most? Is it the onions and garlics of Egypt or is it the promise of living in a land flowing with milk and honey?
Let us not be people that get accustomed to the ways and things of this world but let us be people that yearn for the coming of our Saviour and the journey to our eternal home where we will reign with Him.
Remember, our exodus is drawing near. Jesus is coming soon! This is not our home because we belong to Him and we will live with Him in heaven.
