Get out of your cave
written by Pastor Jeremy Aaron
It's always good to share God's Word and His heart with you.
More than us wanting to talk to God, I believe God is desperately trying to talk to us. I am reminded of this passage where God is talking to Elijah. Here is what God says to Him.
1 Kings 19: 11 - 16
The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by. Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. The Lord said to him, “Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram. Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet."
I believe we are all in a cave season. However, even in this season of the unknown, God is desperately trying to reach out to us. I just want to leave you with a few principles that challenged me from this passage.
First, if we want to hear God clearly, we need to “Get out and Get into His presence". I believe The Lord is about to pass you by and if you don’t get out and meet with Him, you will miss out on what He has for you. Second, we need to cut out the noises in our lives that most of the time mute what God is trying to say to us. There is always too much happening around us and we think it's good because we are busy working or doing things to make us feel like we have accomplished something.
But it’s time to cut the noise and wait for the whisper. Finally, I believe there is a season of elevation and transition coming over the church and the children of God. God wants us to handover our past so that He can elevate our future. If you don’t do steps one and two, we will never arrive at the final step.
God is desperately trying to speak to us. Let’s have the same desperation!!! Whoever has an ear let him hear what The Spirit is saying to the church. Blessings for the week ahead.
