True Faith: Is It Really Worth It?

written by Pastor William Soans

Many often are at awe of athletes and their amazing ability to push to the extreme. This wonder is expressed even greater during the Olympics which happen once every four years. The dedication and consistency marathon runners have towards their sport is unmatched.

The most common question is WHY? Why do they punish their bodies to run a gruelling marathon race? Most answer in a similar pattern: first being the reward they wait for years to receive and second, the physical benefits they receive. I believe similar rewards apply in the spiritual realm where great prizes await those who persevere, and just the process of living by faith itself builds strong character within us. In the race of life, if you finish, you win the prize.

Hebrews considers Jesus’ example in his sufferings as one that we must follow. Faith hits big in Hebrews and it mentions the many greats of the Bible as examples of what our faith ought to look like. There is no guarantee of comfort and leisure in a life of pursuing faith. But the reward is what we must seek.

I pray that you would choose a life of faith and all the challenges it brings you so that you can bare the fruit of faith.

Many blessings for you as you strive on your journey!

Hebrews 12:2-3 NIV "Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."
