God is with us, so why do we need an ‘Outpouring’?
Written by Kirk Pinto
Our nation is experiencing one of its darkest times! The leaders of our nation, the doctors, the businessmen, the frontline workers, the migrant workers, the farmers, the youth – EVERY demographic of our nation’s population is suffering! We are searching for answers. And what better place to look for answers than the Bible? The Bible has already prophesied about our current situation:
Nations will go to war against nations and kingdoms against kingdoms. And there will be terrible earthquakes, horrible epidemics, and famines in place after place. – Matthew 24:7
Devastating things were bound to happen, but there is hope because of the promise of an outpouring of the Holy Spirit!
‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. – Acts 2:17
This is what we’re desperate for! An outpouring is the need of the hour. This is God’s will for His people. He desires that nobody should perish but all be saved. We must not be content with merely knowing God but eagerly seek more of His power, His presence, His fire, His goodness, His kingdom, and His gifts. We need to seek an outpouring!
“a call to seek His kingdom now more than ever before!”
For us who know God, there's joy and hope even in death! However, the only thing worse than the loss of life all around us is that many people have died without ever hearing the gospel of hope. There has never been a greater urgency for a release of truth and healing! Every facet of our society desperately needs a breakthrough! We’ve had reports of a 90% increase in porn consumption during the lockdown. Mental health is deteriorating. Relationships have broken. Jobs have been lost. This isn’t a reminder of the negativity in our world but a call to seek His kingdom now more than ever before! People are crying out for righteousness, peace, and joy; all of which are only found in the presence of God!
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. – Romans 14:17
In the book of Acts, we see the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on three occasions. Each of these events were led by the Apostle Peter & were accompanied by deliverances, healings, miracles, and thousands putting their faith in Jesus.
Now, it’s our turn! It’s our responsibility! Jesus said we will do even greater things than Him! May the Holy Spirit stir our hearts with fire and awaken the spiritual gifts. The power of the Holy Spirit flows through you and me: our hands, our feet, our words, our generosity, our availability and our hospitality are the tools God’s looking for! Let’s lead with righteousness, be peacemakers and joy spreaders. Above all, let’s pour out our intercession before the throne of God, night & day!
In the midst of this pandemic, God will be glorified! We’re going to see a great outpouring!
