Moving ahead!

written by Pastor Emmanuel Tapala

Philippians 3:13

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,."

God has created everything to move, grow and expand. God has not created anything to be stagnant. He has a great plan and wants our life to be always on the move. He created us to grow from faith to faith, from glory to glory, from victory to victory and from strength to strength.

We must understand that life is filled with changes and to embrace these changes, we must make the transition by not being stuck in the past and take hold of the future.

Israelites after being in slavery for 400 years didn’t let go of their past. They thought like Egyptian, talked like Egyptian, walked like Egyptian and ate Egyptian food. So, it was very difficult for them to move on to what God has promised except for Joshua and Caleb.

We need to forget our past failures, disappointments, discouragement, etc and take hold of the future what God has for us. We must move on in our life by letting go of unhealthy attachments. Let’s not waste time and energy trying to hold onto someone or something from the past if that person or thing doesn’t have a place in our present or future. Refuse to wallow in sorrow over something we can’t do anything about.

Let’s seek God with all our heart and be excited about His plans for us. Read and meditate on Scripture as a new perspective and trust God to give us new beginnings filled with promises.
